Meet new people – be a part of the Arb as it grows

We are currently accepting more volunteers. Come and be part of this fabulous team!

Work in a truly beautiful environment, help us care for the bush, and have the chance to learn new skills, and connect to other wonderful people who have a passion for local native plants, animals and ecological restoration.

There are many ways in which you can help and there is much to learn!

Nursery
Volunteer in the nursery learning to propagate local native plants from seed and cutting material. Nursery work can be performed standing or sitting, so this work is flexible and gentle for those with physical limitations.

Grounds
Volunteer in the grounds doing ecological restoration. While learning plant and animal ID and contributing to the maintenance of a truly beautiful community asset, experience the many restorative benefits that comes from just being in this natural setting. This work is more physically demanding but we work at our own pace and to our our capabilities, take breaks, and switch activities regularly.

Seedbank
Help collect and process local native seed. Learn plant ID, seed harvesting and processing skills.
Seed collection and processing is diverse; we visit many different ecologically special locations and also collect seed from the Arboretum grounds. Seed processing is a time consuming but often meditative practice; there is much gentle work and time for conversations.

Libby and the Gladdies
An inspired bunch of volunteers meet weekly on a Monday morning to plant, weed and help to care for the land surrounding the seven creek.
Join them to enjoy and nurture these wonderful public spaces and learn your local native plant ID.
See them in action

Our volunteer days are Monday and Thursday. The Arboretum is open from 9am-5pm. Volunteers often come for the morning and we have morning tea around 11-11.30.
