Description
Shrub or tree to 5m high.
Foliage
Linear leaves 4-11mm long and 1mm wide.
Flowers
White or cream, spring to summer. Profuse and conspicuous. Strong, sweet fragrance.
Habitat
Mostly on shallow, infertile soils, often overlying rock, but also on poorly-drained sandy soils. Fringing lakes and streams.
Special Notes
Controls gully erosion.
Can form thickets. Useful for screening, hedging and background planting.
Value to Wildlife
Foliage good refuge for small birds. Flowers a good food source.
