Description
Tree to 20m high, with shortly fibrous bark shedding in ribbons above.
Foliage
Glossy green adult leaves with fibrous bark at base and shedding bark on branches.
Habitat
Well drained, relatively poor soils on gentle slopes and ridges.
Found locally on the Strathbogie Ranges on dry-ish sites with poor, shallow soils.
Special Notes
Good shade and habitat tree due to large crown and low branches. Fast growing, tolerates moderate frost,
extended dry periods and wind. Useful in shelterbelts.
Value to Wildlife
Valuable habitat. Hollows are nesting and refuge sites for a range of birds and mammals.
