Description
Usually upright shrub, 1.5-5m high with brownish, finely fissured bark.
Foliage
Phyllodes can vary from straight to curved or sickle-shaped, hanging with one main vein, 5-20cm long. Gland is prominent where the phyllode tapers to join the leaf stem. Juvenile bipinnate leaves remain on plant with adult leaves until 2m high. Leaf stems often red.
Flowers
Flowers pale to golden-yellow balls in racemes in late winter to Summer.
Habitat
Drier soils. Tolerates short-term inundation.
Special Notes
Legume, improves soil fertility through nitrogen fixation. Fast growing.
Value to Wildlife
Flowers are a pollen source for native moths, butterflies and other insects.
