    Lightwood Wattle

    Description
Upright, small to medium tree up to 15m high.

    Foliage
Narrow, sickle-shaped green leaves with manymain veins, to 20cm long. Juvenile bipinnate leaves may remain on young plants.

    Flowers
Pale yellow to almost white balls, arranged in racemes. Late Summer to Autumn.

    Habitat
Widespread. Generally found on shallow drier soils. Prefers sandy loams. Adaptable to many soils but intolerant of water logging.

    Special Notes
Improves soil fertility through nitrogen fixation. Long lived. Attractive summer-flowering ornamental and shade for gardens and rockeries. Shallow roots do not interfere with utilities or raise footpaths.

    Value to Wildlife
Excellent habitat. Because it flowers when other flowers are scarce, provides valuable pollen for many insects.
